...find my PIN?

Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) is a 4 digit password is created when you apply for a library card. In most cases the PIN is the last 4 digits of your primary phone number. Your PIN serves as a password to your library account online, and helps protect your privacy. If you do not know your PIN, please contact your library to acquire or reset your PIN.

...start receiving e-mail notices?

If you have never before received e-mail notices, visit your library to provide your e-mail address and request e-mail notifications.

If you have stopped receiving your e-mail notices, check your spam filter. Unfortunately, we cannot give a general set of instructions on how to do this for all mail programs as every email program has different ways of protecting specific email addresses (or "white-listing") so they will not be filtered.

If you have stopped receiving email notices, it might be because the library has an invalid email address for you. Please contact the library to verify your information.

...place a hold?

To avoid having to provide your library card number and PIN each time you place a hold during your session, you can use the “Log In” at the top of the screen. This will keep you logged in for the length of your session.

When you have found an item you wish to borrow, Select an Action, click Place Hold or Click Place Hold button to the right of the item information. (If there is no place hold button, it means that the item is only available from a non-automated library or that it does not circulate. Please contact your library for assistance.)

After clicking Place Hold, select the pickup library where you want the item to be delivered.

Click Place Hold.

Make sure you receive a message that the hold was placed Action was Success, Click OK

...view my holds?

To view your holds, log in at the top of the screen, click “My Account”, and then click the Holds tab.

...cancel my holds?

Click "My Account"- Holds tab: Select the hold you want to cancel by clicking on the box next to the title and then click the Cancel Hold(s) button.

Click the YES button to confirm.

If your hold is already waiting for pickup in a library, you cannot cancel that hold. Please call the library and have them return the item.

...Suspend my holds?

Use this option to temporarily stop holds from being filled. If you enter suspension dates, your name is temporarily removed from the hold queue. At the end of the suspension, your original place in the hold queue is restored.

Click "My Account" - Holds tab: Select the hold you want to suspend by clicking on the box next to the title and then click the Suspend Hold(s) button. Select the Start amp; End dates from the calendar. Click the Suspend button.

...renew materials online?

Click "My Account" - Checkout tab: Select the checkout you want to cancel by clicking on the box next to the title and then click the Renew button.

Click the YES button to confirm.

You may renew everything at once by checking the box next to the word "Select All" before clicking Renew.

Each library's policy on renewal is different. If you are unable to renew, contact your library.

...find and use "My Lists"?

At the search screen, click on My Lists link located by "My Account": If you have never created a list before, you must create a name for the list. Click the paper icon with a plus, Type in the List name and click Create.

If you do have lists, search for the items to begin. When you find an item(s) you wish to add to the list, put a checkmark in the box to the left of the title information. Click Select an Action, then click Add to My List.

To view your selections, click on My List again and Click on the list name to view title listed.

...request that my library borrow an item not found in the NCLS catalog from another library?

Librarians call this "Inter-library Loan." If you call or visit the Circulation desk at your local library and ask about Interlibrary Loan, a Librarian will assist you to identify and request items from other libraries.

...use limit my search results?

To help limit your search results, use the search limits located on the left-side (Library, Author, Format, Subject, Item Category 2, Publication). You can use limits in one of the following ways:

1) Click on a limit. By clicking a single limit, you will narrow your search results to meet that limit. For example, if you click on "Books," your search results will only include items that are books.

2) Select a limit or multiple limits to include in or exclude from your search results. You can select one or multiple limits within a single field by clicking the check box next to the limit(s).

Whether at the library or from the comfort of your own home, you can access the features of the Online Catalog by logging in with your library card. Located at the top of the page, simply click "Log In", type in your library card number and PIN, and you'll be able to:

  • Place holds on books, DVD's and more!
  • Download eBooks and Audiobooks
  • Access account information
  • Create wish lists

Featured on the Online Catalog are also many electronic services that can be accessed with your library card, but may require you to create additional accounts. These include Zinio, Universal Class, Testing and Education Reference Center, IndieFlix, and more. Please visit the help links in the upper left to find out more about these services.
